The local area is full of cultural and historical sites: Mas Py is located 8 km outside the village of Céret, which has a reputation as the “Mecca of Cubism”. On the way to Mas Py visitors pass the Ermitage St. Ferréol at an altitude of 300m above sea level. It consists of a 13th century chapel to which a hermitage was added in the 18th century to accommodate pilgrims.
The old farmhouse was built in the Aspres during the French Revolution. Over time the agricultural property has undergone various developments, such as the production of cork and charcoal as well as a vineyard (Muscat …).
After 1956 the olive trees were decimated by frost and were replaced by cherry crops (Céret became the capital of cherries). 15 years ago we wanted to expand our existing plots and have planted 4’500 trees of different varieties of cherries. This further allows us to harvest for about a month from mid-May to mid-June.
In recent years we have planted 1’800 olive trees in accordance to the ancestral traditions. Our production is the result of ancient olive trees that have survived the frost and we have also added diversified kinds (regional, North Catalonia and Italy).
To maintain the ecosystem we introduced the Catalan breeding donkeys. We also breed lambs and black Iberian pigs; they, together with the donkeys, keep all woods and meadows clean.
Our motto is to respect nature that offers us an authentic place. We are certified organic since 1992.
The Aspres are arid, but offer a unique territory. The flavor of the products is intense (oil, cherries, dried cherries, pork and lamb).
We invite you to discover our products that reflect the soul of Mas Py.
